Suspension a response to limited re-opening of the Pensacola Bay Bridge

TALLAHASSE, FLORIDA.

The Garcon Point Toll bridge will once again enter another month of toll free passage, per the order of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The only lifeline to Gulf Breeze for the next 10 miles, it served as the main artery into the communities around Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach. After the limited re-opening of the Pensacola Bay Bridge within the city limits of Gulf Breeze, however, traffic has noticeably declined on the Garcon Point Bridge from its high, but still remains significantly higher than traffic levels pre- Hurricane Sally.

Governor DeSantis extend ended the suspension of the tolls shortly after the expiration of his previous order to suspend the tolls. He must do this because the governor is only allowed to suspend tolls for 30 days under a single order. That being said, orders have been issued continuously since Hurricane Sally.

As of June 5, 2021, tolls on the Garcon Point Bridge are suspended through July 6, 2021.
